What could be better than an illustration rare depicting Squirtle frolicking at the beach? Well, a Squirtle frolicking at the beach drawn by the legendary artist, Mitsuhiro Arita! Base set Charizard (4/102)? That was Arita. Batman Noivern (196/203)? Arita too. Mewtube GX (082/072)? Arita again! Squirtle (170/165) is another to add to the pile of Arita's accomplishments.
Arita's legacy endures in Squirtle (170/165), where the artist depicts Squirtle's carefree, come-mischievous nature as the Pokemon strolls on the sand as waves wash over their feet. Squirtle stands centre-frame smiling, their smooth, blue texture popping against the intricate details of the ocean's ripples. Photographs and screenshots do not do this illustration justice.
