Nope, never pulled a Base Set Charizard growing up. Never had the opportunity in the playground to trade for it either. Everybody clutched theirs tight, accidentally ruining their chances at a PSA 10. Not that that mattered at the time.
Ash was on TV in those days. He isn't anymore. Though he was replaced by Liko and Roy, we shouldn't despair. Fans are created all the time — my partner is one of them. We're all part of this community.
Pokémon has grown and changed with us. Pitch Black comes out in less than a month, and I'm just as excited for the new set as I was pressing my yellow Game Boy Pocket's tiny screen into my face all those years ago.
